What an Experience!

Thank you to John Harms and the entire Millennium family for once again hosting the perfect conference. The Millenium team is a joy to work with; each and every member being pleasant, kind, and generous of their time and spirit. Its easy to see that they have all turned their dreams into reality, which is precisely what this year's Millennium Experience was about.

John Harms, CEO and Founder of Milennium software with Mari

We excitedly left our Fairfield studio on Saturday for a 5 hour flight to Arizona.  What we found out West, was a group of people as enthused as us, and a weekend filled with inspiring and motivating information.  With classes hosted by the Millennium staff, educators from Paul Mitchell, former employees of Vidal Sassoon and more, we immersed ourselves in the information presented to us.  But not only did we learn, we had FUN while doing it! We watched Tabatha Coffey speak, discovered an amazing charity (www.friendsarebyyourside.com -- much more on that later), danced (yes, in class), we dressed up in our Denim & Diamonds for a theme party, we laughed and we even cried at the unbelievable presentations from motivational speakers.

We’ve come back to our salon more energized than ever!  The Millennium Experience is so much more than a "software conference". It's a true "Experience", one that renews and revitalizes us, and reaffirms our ever-growing love for this industry.

Second Time Around: The Millennium Experience

Last year, we posted about Mari & Stephanie taking a trip down to Miami for the Millennium Experience, a conference hosted by our software company.  We called it the "Un-conference" (See our blog about it!), because, while it was for business, we definitely had a whole lot of fun! This weekend, we will be attending for our second year in a row, and Kelly will be joining as well.

We hope to learn about new ways to utilize our software in our efforts to serve you better, also hear from celebrity hairstylists, and even get an education from TV personality and hairdresser, Tabatha Coffey!

Keep checking back here for updates and pictures of all the hoopla.

Drinking the Kool-Aid

While browsing through a recent copy of People magazine, and flipping through the advertisements, we stumbled across a familiar face.  Yes, we know and recognize the Kool-Aid Man, but the familiar face (and haircut!) was our guest Joe Pierce! Check him out in the pics below handing flowers to the memorable mascot of the juice drink.

Mixing a little Pleasure with Business: Mari at Oribe Miami

On a recent vacation to South Beach, Mari thought it might be fun to go to Oribe’s Miami hair salon and check out the space and his talented group of stylists.  Before heading in for her beach-vacation-blowout, Mari read many positive reviews of Steven and decided to give him a try. They weren’t wrong! Steven, she says, was fun, fabulous and made Mari feel as though she was the only guest in the salon! For a bit of hold and softness, he applied of Oribe’s Crème for Style to Mari’s hair from mid-shaft to ends and meticulously dried and smoothed Mari’s locks to South Beach perfection!

Worst Hairstyles of the Oscars Past

Actors are constantly under pressure to look good 24/7, and we understand that sometimes, they might just snap under all that scrutiny.  But that's no excuse to rock a bad 'do at Hollywood's biggest night out.  Here's a look at what we think were some of the worst hairstyles of the Academy Awards over the last decade or so. We hope these celebs are long past their temporary lapses in styling judgement.

She was one of our picks for best hair in 2012, but in 2000 Angelina Jolie frightened a lot of viewers with her Morticia Adams makeup and stringy, below-waist hair.  Yikes! Not exactly glamorous.

Helena Bonham Carter is always a bit edgy, and we LOVE her acting...but this 2006 hairstyle has got to GO!

Such a gorgeous actress, but such bad hair.  In 2001, Kate Hudson was nominated for her role in "Almost Famous", a great film! ...This hair, on the other hand, was not.  Is she going for the poodle look?

Scarlet Johansson's messy updo at the 2005 Academy Awards is a definitie DON'T! We like soft, clean waves, not sloppy and frizzy.

Cheers!
